Cellular One Joins Third Generation of Mobile Technology
3G Services Now Available

Cellular One launched its 3G Evolution Data Optimized (EVDO) network in Wayne and Pike counties, becoming the area’s first and only 3G provider.  Cellular One’s new 3G network will allow for the wireless transmittal of data, including email and internet access, at speeds up to 10 times faster than before.

“Mobile internet access offers us the freedom of connecting to the web and email from virtually anywhere” said Jamie Davis, Vice President of Marketing & Customer Services.  “Mobile phones have become powerful tools to keep us connected, not just through voice but also through messaging, email, video and the web.”

According to the Pew Research Center, the mobile device will be the world’s primary connection tool to the internet in 2020.  To keep pace with the increasing demand for mobile data services, mobile operators like Cellular One are expanding and enhancing their data networks.  “We know that users want to browse the web from their mobile phones at speeds comparable to their computers at home and work.  3G allows us to accomplish that.”

Cellular One to Host Free Seminars on Text & Picture Messaging

Continuing to expand its services as the area’s most extensive cellular network, Cellular One will host two text and picture messaging seminars in August to help illustrate how to perform all the functions associated with these services. Free and open to the general public, all are invited to attend. Reservations are not required, but are suggested, and can be made by calling Customer Service at 1-866-CELL-1PA.

On August 14, 2010 the first seminar will be held in Hawley at the Visitor’s Center at the Pocono Lake Region Chamber of Commerce, located at 2512 Route 6, Hawley, PA. The second seminar will be on August 21, 2010 at Cellular One’s Milford, PA, store at 102 Milford Landing In the Staples Complex. Light refreshments will also be served at both events.

“We wanted to create a forum for cell phone users to take advantage of all the great services we make available through their phones,” said Jamie Davis, Vice President of Marketing and Customer Services. “The seminar will draw all audiences and the easy-to-follow presentations will have everyone texting photos in no time.”

The text and picture-messaging seminar will feature presentations on what picture and multimedia messaging is, who uses it and how users benefit from these services. Davis, representing Cellular One, will lead attendees through the meanings of industry terms such as TXT and MMS, while also showing them hands-on, how to utilize these services right on their own phones. Another feature of the seminars will include deciphering the process of Cellular One mobile message transfer to further understand what messaging is all about.

Cellular One Increases Coverage to Local Communities
New Cell Tower in Shohola

As part of its commitment to provide and maintain the area’s most extensive cellular network, Cellular One is adding another cell site to its stable. Located on Springbrook Road in Shohola Falls, the cell site is situated between the Route 6 exchange with Route 739 and Interstate 84.

“It’s always a great feeling to be able to bring cellular coverage to areas where minimal coverage or no coverage existed previously,” says Jamie Davis, Vice President of Marketing & Customer Services. “We are excited about the launch of our newest cell site in Shohola Falls, which is expected to fill in coverage gaps along Route 6 and provide signal coverage to the surrounding community.”

Scheduled to be turned on in the next 30 days, the tower will allow Cellular One customers to begin seeing immediate improvements. The areas along the Route 6 corridor closest to the tower will see the greatest improvement, including the homes on Springbrook Road, as well as the Shohola Falls Trails End community.

Giving to kids who give back

Cellular One of NEPA has shown their dedication to our community in numerous ways over the years.  The summer of 2010 has been no exception.  Recently Cellular One of NEPA awarded scholarships to 4 students from area high schools as part of their continued process to give back to Wayne and Pike counties.

Each of the students were chosen by their respective schools for showing a high level of moral character and the determination to better their lives with higher education.  These young adults impressed everyone involved with the awards and Cellular One of NEPA is proud to have the opportunity to help them along their path.

Kidzstock

June 5th was a day of fun and festivities at the annual Kidzstock event in Honesdale thanks to many local companies such as Cellular One of NEPA.  This local wireless company sponsored pony rides for the children and put on a contest for all little ones to enjoy.  One lucky child was able to turn that enjoyment into a $20 Action Pack at the local Fun & Games center.  Carter Kennedy came away as the winner of Cellular One of NEPA’s Stock Pot Toss raffle.  This event had children of all ages attempting to throw numerous food items into an oversized pot.  Cellular One of NEPA ran the Stock Pot Toss contest all day and any child that had a great time flinging vegetables and rubber chickens was entered into the raffle.

While each child won balloons and other small gifts for participating only one could walk away as the winner of the raffle.  Carter and his mother Heather were recently on hand to accept their Action Pack at Cellular One’s store in Honesdale at the Rt. 6 mall

Cellular One of Nepa and Susan G. Komen Team up for a Cure

Honesdale, PA (12/3/2010) – The month of October is known across the country as Breast Cancer Awareness month and it’s for a good reason. Each year thousands of women are diagnosed with this life-threatening disease and the search is still on for a definitive cure. Organizations like Susan G. Komen for the Cure® have taken up this calling to raise not only awareness, but money and volunteers to help the cause as well. And during October of this year, Cellular One of NEPA joined in the fight.

During the month of October, Cellular One made a $5.00 donation for each new activation and also donated a percentage of their accessory sales. On December 3rd Rita Lowry, Sales Development Representative for Cellular One, presented the donation to Dolly Woody [not pictured], Executive Director of the NEPA Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Both companies were ecstatic with the turnout and excited to see this money go to such a worthy cause.

“Any time you get to make a donation is fulfilling.” said Rita “But when it goes to a local affiliate of such an important program you really get to feel like you’re making a difference. It was great that the community came out to help us put together this cash donation.”
